Employment Law

Our partner, Matt Van Sickle, has provided businesses with advice and representation in several areas of employment law. Before a dispute has arisen, Matt has advised businesses on matters involving the use of employee manuals and written work procedures, ensuring compliance with the Family Medical Leave Act, and formalizing a program for corrective action and employee evaluations.

Matt has also represented employers in range of disputes, including defending charges of discrimination filed with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, contesting a former employee’s attempt to obtain improper unemployment benefits, and filing suit to enforce a former employee’s non-competition agreement. Matt has obtained injunctive relief to prevent a former employee from working for a client’s competitor, and has defended allegations that his client poached an employee from a competitor.

If your business is looking for ways to minimize potential employment-related claims or is facing an active claim, from a former employee or a competitor, we can review your situation and recommend a strategy.
